Dear Friends,
I've been on a tear.
For the past two weeks I've spent my weekends tearing out pictures from
magazines that represent what I want in all areas of my life: health,
wealth, spirituality, relationships, intellect.
I was inspired by my client James Ray, one of the stars in the movie
The Secret. And
I wasn't the only one. Larry King will be having him on his show, Beyond
Positive Thinking, on November 16th so be sure to watch. The first part
of this 2 part series is on November 2 and I suggest you watch both if
you're interested in focusing your attention on what you want out of your
life.
What I realized, is that the things I've trained my attention on--a great
relationship with my sweetie, a happy, harmonious home and clients who
I love who are making a mark in the world, has all come into being. But
the areas that I haven't clarified or spent time on, haven't. I'm changing
that now.
There are three areas James says are necessary to make what you wish
for a reality. You need to go three for three. Your thoughts, feelings
and actions must be in alignment before you can get what you want. If
you think it, but don't believe it and really feel it through and through,
then zilch. Or, if you really feel it strongly, but don't act, zilch again.
So when I spoke to 100 women at an Ewomen Network event last week I had
the thoughts, the feelings and then I took action. I asked for help for
what I wanted (which is part of how they network): to put my book, "Sell
Yourself Without Selling Your Soul" into the hands of every person
on the planet who wants to share his/her gifts with the world through
publicity.
While I was writing "Sell Yourself" I envisioned that anyone
who felt drawn to it would find it. I did this every single day before
I sat down to write. I imagined my audience and how happy they would be
to discover they didn't need to brag, beg or whore themselves to get great
publicity.
But since then, I confess I've gotten caught up with so many other things
that I've lost a little of the oomph. I've decided to re-envision my original
intention since it's so important to me. The first thing I did was to
cut out the New York Times Bestseller list from the book review section
of the New York Times and paste my book's title in the #1 spot. So what
if it's been out in the marketplace for three years? It's never too late
to begin anything.
If you've read it and benefited from it will you pass on the word? Your
friends, colleagues and co-workers can
get
it here. If you haven't read it, and are wanting to promote yourself
with integrity and spirit, there is no better time than now.
Partnerships are incredibly powerful. Of course, you can become an affiliate
first and enjoy some extra income before you pass on the word if you like

Begin to envision what you want your PR to bring you. And go three for
three. I'd love to hear about your results.
Warmly,
Susan

Blogging: Hype or High Profile?
Do any of you care what I eat for breakfast?
I don't think so. Many blogs are just too darn personal. But blogs don't
have to be about your messy underwear drawer or your kid's latest tantrum,
they can be an inside look at your industry or your take on the news.
Here are a few tips on creating content if you're using your blog to grow
your business.
1. Stick with your subject.
No one wants to hear your thoughts on parenting if you're an expert in
Caribbean culture. Go native and we're all ears. Natter on about the latest
sippy cups and we'll click to someone who knows what's best for baby.
One of the women in my writing groups has a husband who is a flight instructor.
Flying is his passion. He quit his job in high tech to fly. His blog is
about flying small planes. He has a very tight niche of readers who hang
on his every word.
2. Surprise us.
The best best sellers are the ones that didn't start out with the goal
of selling lots of copies, but arose from passion--or what author of 27
books, Bill O'Hanlon says from being "blissed, blessed, pissed or
dissed."
Julie Powell didn't want to be dissed. She began to blog at the suggestion
of her husband to save herself from her government secretarial position
and impending childlessness. Her concept: to cook 524 recipes in Julia
Child's classic 1961 cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking,
Volume 1."
A blog about systematic recipe making? Who'd have thunk it? But scores
of fans followed her progress on the salon.com website and the blog went
to auction as a book titled: "Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes,
1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen." It's sold over 150,000 copies. Since the
book is done Powell has found another blogging subject: the book tour.
Not so much of a surprise, but what a way to keep her loyal fans enthralled.
3. Be a personality.
Miss Snark is a literary agent (or so she says) who schools the ill-mannered
masses in literary etiquette and harps on about the publishing industry:
http://misssnark.blogspot.com/.
She's hip, she's snarky, she loves George Clooney. She tells us what she's
read in 2006. We care because we're curious. Who is this vicious babe
who poses as a high heeled heartless bookworm while we can see that she's
a softie beneath the snark?
Whatever you choose to snark or comment about make sure it's relevant
to the audience you want to cultivate. Blogging takes time, but it can
be a quick way to develop a devoted following.

Conversations with God: The Movie
The movie, based on the book of the same name, which has sold more than
7 million copies worldwide in ten years is getting a second chance at
life: much like the author himself. Neale Donald Walsch was homeless and
had a broken neck before he became a best-selling author and international
star. The true story dramatizes Walsch's experiences at the lowest point
in his life asking God some
very hard questions.
Walsch just completed a 44 day publicity tour (here's the "action"
part of encouraging reality to catch up with your dreams). The film just
opened this week. You can
