Craft Credible Messages

  • Women occupy only 2% of senior management positions in business worldwide. (www.businessweek.com).

  • Only 15% of parliamentary seats across the world are held by women. (www.globalpolicy.org).

  • Globally news stories including women tally less than 15% and are often only about appearance and family status. (Women's Media Center; www.womensmediacenter.com).

  • Women represent Only 14.7% of boards of directors within mainstream media corporations/Fortune 500 companies. ("2006 Census: Women Board Directors," Catalyst, 2006 & Conde Nast Portfolio, April 2008).

  • In 2007, women comprised 15% of all directors, executive producers, producers, writers, cinematographers, and editors working on the top 250 domestic grossing films. This represents a decline of 2 percentage points from 1998 and represents no change from 2006. ("The Celluloid Ceiling," Martha Lauzen, 2007).

When you're seen, heard and respected you begin to be a tangible and visible force. Becoming an expert who appears in the media is one way women can begin to get the kind of attention and power they deserve.
