Bill Clinton's Image Control - Cigars & War

The Path to 9/11According to the New York Post,
Bill Clinton is demanding changes to several scenes in the 9/11 drama set to air on Sunday and Monday on ABC.

Clinton says there are scenes that misrepresent his role in pursuing Osama bin Laden. The letter obtained by the Post from Bruce Lindsey, head of the Clinton Foundation, states that "the content of this drama is factually and incontrovertibly inaccurate" and calls for ABC to correct the errors or pull the drama entirely.

When you're famous it's hard to re-create history once you're out of power and you don't have the instant media access you once enjoyed. ABC is calling this a "dramatized" version of events which leaves them a football field of wiggle room in how they portray the drama-and the people in it.

As evidenced by the power of media conglomerates the message and even the events can still be politicized depending on who is in power. Dramatizing and fictionalizing history to make it more exciting to audiences has real drawbacks not only for a former president's reputation, but for imbedding falsehoods in the American memory. Controlling your image while someone is fictionalizing it is a strenuous (and sometimes nearly impossible) task. But loud protesting in this case is in order.

I kind of think CLinton has a lot of political clout. His economic summit last week was very well orchestrated, and made a big impact here in DC.
